The greatest resource in the Kingdom of God is people.

They are-- we are-- the primary means God uses to change the world. And, we're better when we walk it out together.

Every major change in your life, good or bad, was probably more influenced by a WHO than a WHAT, a WHERE, a HOW, or even a WHY.

Think about it.

People are the biggest influencer in life.

Thankfully, we weren't designed to live alone. We were created to walk in healthy relationships.

The New Testament teaches us that we not only become "one" with the Holy Spirit when we give our lives to Christ, but that we also become "one" with each other.

That is, we become part of the Body of Christ (see Romans 12, 1 Corinthians 12, Ephesians 4).

Here's an overview of what you'll discover about your connection to others in the Body of Christ--

First, we must be intentional both creating community.

Relationships don't happen by accident. In fact, they're hard work.

And, let's be honest, we've all been hurt by others in the past. So walking with transparency and experiencing true intimacy with others entails a bit of risk.

But, as you'll see, the supernatural results and the risks are worth the effort.

Second, we learn people who are unified can literally do anything they want to do.

There’s a great story in the Old Testament that shows the possibilities of what people can do when they come together around a common purpose.

You’ve probably heard of the Tower of Babel. The countrymen get together and decide to build a monument to themselves that reaches to Heaven. Ironically, God comes down to them, confuses their language, and scatters them.

Notice what God says about this, though:

“…they are one people, and they have all one language, and this is only the beginning of what they will do. And nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them" (Genesis 11:6 ESV).

Third, relationships not only bring natural alignment, but they facilitate supernatural empowerment.

Israel anointed priests with oil and believed the Spirit of God actually “rushed” on the man from that moment on.

In Psalms 133:1-2 links the ideas of unity and the anointing:

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious oil upon the head, running down on the beard, the beard of Aaron, running down on the edge of his garment.

This is why Jesus’ final prayer was simple: “Make them all one, make them unified” (John 17:11).

Fourth, Jesus didn't just come to connect us to the Father; He came to connect us to each other.

In the ancient world, dining together was almost a solemn act and showed you were pledging yourselves to one another. It was an “I’ve got your back and you’ve got mine” type of declaration.

This is why Jesus spent so much time eating-- especially with "tax collectors and sinners."

As we prepare to move to the final model of The Freedom Track (Co-Mission 401), we talk about what it means that Jesus spent as much time around a table as He did at the Temple.
