Alignment is FREE!

Many times, we think we need “more” in order to align our lives with God’s plan for us. The truth is radically different, though.

You have everything you need to live the life God designed; the key isn’t to find something “more” but to first set the things you already possess in order.

The power of “firsts” empowers us to align our lives with God’s Kingdom. 

The Scripture reminds us of this familiar concept— the first matters.  Romans 11:16 tell us, “For if the firstfruit is holy, the lump is also holy; and if the root is holy, so are the branches” (NKJV). The first sets the tone for the rest. 

The Scripture makes this very practical and shows us how to align, how to “seek” the Kingdom. 

This approach includes a two-fold proposition of stewarding what we already possess as well as gifting the Lord the first of what we gain.

The first principle we learned from Proverbs 3:5-6 is to honor God with our time by acknowledging Him in all our ways / days.

When we think about “time,” we most often think how much of it (or how little of it) we possess. The Bible doesn’t merely speak about time, though; it teaches us about timing.

A major factor related to sowing and reaping— a principle of Scripture we’ll discuss in chapter 7— is timing. All farmers understand (and even make plans based on that fact) that different crops grow in different seasons. 

Many people feel rushed— as if there’s too much to do and not enough hours in the day. We live in a constant state of anxiety— of being “behind.” 

Stepping into alignment with God’s weekly rhythm of Sabbath helps us prioritize life by placing Him at the core.

The Kingdom of God not only has a different calendar, the Kingdom also has a different way of handling currency. Moreover, as you probably discerned from our discussion on time, these concepts will also affect every area of life.

The Bible shows us that money is a tool which taps into our destiny.

Whereas the “kingdom of this world” deals with financial currency, the Kingdom of God operates by the principle of sowing and reaping. This proves true every area of life.

The concept of reaping and sowing was created on the 3rd day when the power of seed bearing plants were spoken forth by God. Somehow, we've just assumed that “seed” only works in biology. Again, it works in every area of life. 

The shift of alignment requires faith. Both time and money require faith, which is action-backed trust.

Hebrews 11:6 tells us that faith is required in order to live in relationship with God (ESV):

And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him.

Notice that part of faith includes believing that He rewards the pursuit of alignment. 

Furthermore, faith isn’t just intellectual agreement— it’s trust that is validated by action.

And, whereas we don’t “give in order to get” (we get in order to give, God flows His resources to us so that He can distribute them through us), one of the many benefits of sowing is that we always reap more than we plant.
